How might life be different if every action reflected the firm belief that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter morning? It happened. Frightened disciples became bold apostles. Something transformed them, and that same something can transform us.
Transformation that saves our experience of this life does not happen in an instant. It happens over a life of prayer and service, as we gradually take into ourselves the truth that Easter happened. It takes time, because this ultimate truth stands over and against so much of ordinary life. We set aside the 40 days before Easter as a special time of getting ready to receive the news of Easter in a new and fresh way. This season of getting ready is called Lent. Lent means “spring,” and we associate that season with growth. We till the ground of our souls in Lent with inner searching, added prayer, and attention to the needs of the world. Here are some ways to support your Lenten journey in 2010 at Trinity:
Morning Prayer: Monday,Wednesday. Friday at 8:30 am and Tuesday, Thursday at 9 am.
