A Prayer for our Nation and the World at the Close of the Iraq War

Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for all who have offered their lives for their country and for the peace of the world. And especially, we join with others throughout the world in thanksgiving that the hostilities that led us into conflict with Iraq have come to an end.

We ask your guidance and your blessing on the brave men and women of our Armed Services who have offered themselves to their Nation in the cause of freedom and peace, and we pray that their lives may be strengthened and blessed as they return to their homes and their families.

And finally, as we celebrate the Birth of the Prince of Peace this Christmas, we pray that His love and Compassion may be manifest in our land and in the whole world, that there may, indeed, be Peace on Earth and Good Will to All.
