Crop Walk is neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting. Every Fall, Trinity Cathedral walkers join in this interfaith, community effort to help stop hunger. Watch the Cathedral Cross for dates/ ways to get involved. Family Promise is committed to helping low-income families nationwide to achieve lasting independence. This is done by helping communities mobilize to provide safe shelter, meals, and support services for homeless families and through programs designed to redress the underlying causes of homelessness. Here in Sacramento, Trinity Cathedral, along with twelve other hosting congregations, participates in this program by hosting families, who are homeless, in our facility four times per year. Francis House is a resource and counseling center for the poor supported by fifteen churches and the community at large. All too often, we provide the last hope for those disenfranchised from the main stream of society. Anyone in need is welcomed with a warm cup of coffee and a dose of compassion. Our counseling is much like you would experience with a friend who was having difficulties; listen first, then help problem solve their dilemma. This could include something as simple as a referral to a food closet, providing a motel voucher or as complex as advocacy for a client in the Welfare system. Contact: Ted White 395-7703
Habitat for Humanity is a housing ministry based on the Christian principles of decent housing for all people, regardless of race or creed. Prospective homeowners work with volunteers who build the houses as their expression of God's love. In 2007, Trinity Cathedral completed the Habitat house they built with Center of Praise Ministries. Thanks to the many volunteers from both congregations, a lovely home was built in Oak Park. Those interested in organizing another Habitat team should contact Dean Baker.

Sacramento Loaves and Fishes is a large complex in downtown Sacramento which provides numerous services to over 2500 different homeless guests monthly. Members of Trinity Cathedral volunteer in various capacities, including The Reverend Canon Kathleen Kelly, who serves on the Board of Directors. Watch for opportunities in the Cathedral Cross, or contact Loaves and Fishes directly. Trinity Respecting Earth and Environment (TREE) provides leadership in raising the consciousness of members of Trinity Cathedral regarding the need to care for God’s creation and the earth’s environment. TREE works toward protecting the earth’s ecosystems, safeguarding public health, and ensuring sustainability in harvesting the earth’s resources. Contact Ann Rothschild.
WEAVE is the primary provider of comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Sacramento County. WEAVE was established in 1978 as a private 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization to serve domestic violence victims and their families in Sacramento County. In 1988, WEAVE added services to help victims of sexual assault. WEAVE serves women, men, teens and children who are survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our services are available to anyone who needs them, regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, or income level.
