Great Job!!

I just want to take a minute to thank everyone who was involved in some of our recent fundraisers and activities. Our Super Bowl Pizza Sales was a huge success. We sold 150 pizzas and raised nearly $1,000. Thanks to everyone who came to make the pizzas and hand them out on Super Bowl Sunday. Great Job!!

The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper was also a great success. We fed a little over 100 people and got a lot of compliments on the delicious pancakes. Thanks to Nels R., Kevin & Eric Brosio, TJ Pare, Kelsie Schroer-Echandia (and I think I'm forgetting someone else) for helping out. And thanks to Steve Bonney for flippin' flap jacks!

Saturday we had a good group feeding St. John's Shelter. Rey, Eva, Cal, Laura and her 2 friends, and Tosha. Thanks for taking time out of your weekend for this very important service that we provide to them.

Last, I want to give a HUGE thank you to the teenagers who helped with child care during the annual meeting. Rey, Eva, Elizabeth, Kelsie, Tosha and Anna helped entertain and supervise nearly 20 kids ages 4 to 7. Thank you for helping with playing the bells for the congregation. Everyone LOVED IT!!! (standing ovation).

I was a little nervouse about the whole night when I found out that Kathryn Bonney was sick, but with your help, everything went smooth as can be. We owe a big big thank you to Steve Bonney for making a special trip to bring you all your KFC dinner. Next time you see him, tell him thanks. And I hope Kathryn is feeling much better real soon!

Great job everyone. Trinity Cathedral would not be Trinity Cathedral without all of you!

Later!

Duct Tape Winner!

The team to stay up on the wall the longest was going to be the winner, but, when it looked like all three we pretty secure, and we could have been there long into next week, we decided to determine a winner another way. The first one to rip themselves from the wall was the winner. Take a look at the video and you determine who was the winner. It looks to me like Kelsie's foot hits the floor a fraction of a second sooner than Kevin's. Also, I assure you that, even though it looks like Elis is hanging by her neck, she was not. It was her arms that were giving her trouble. Feel free to comment.ductape.mov

January EYF Meeting

We had a great time at the EYF meeting and played a hilarious team building game. Afterwards we had a group discussion, together with the Rite 13 kids, about the pecking order at school and how we fit into those groups. Thanks to everyone for being so open with your high school and Jr. High experiences.

J2A Christmas Party

Here are some photos from the 2006 Christmas Party. I was really happy to have you all at my home and caroling out in the cold was a blast too.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone, and happy 2007 to you. I hope everyone had a great holiday break. I'm excitied to finally get this web site officially up and running. I know it's going to be a great way to keep in touch with everyone involved in the youth group. It also gives averyone in the congregation an opportunity to see what their youth group is up to.

I have set up this page specifically for the Sr. High class. The Rite 13 class has a page just like this one, where Kathryn will post her blogs. I have set up page the so that you can make comments on anything you read here. Whether you agree or dissagree with what is posted, your opinion matters. So don't be shy about commenting. All comments will be reviewed before they are posted and there are only a few things that will keep your comment from being included on the web site.

PLEASE NO:
Foul Language
Hatefull speech toward any person or groups
Threats of any kind
Name calling
Gratuitous sex - Talking about sex is not restricted, but let's keep it clean and be mature about it.
Links to other sites that may contain these things or contain links to these things.

Once in a while I will post a question for you to think about and comment on. I will also upload pictures from past events or past sunday school lessons in case anyone missed out. So, to get things rolling, I have a questions for you.

In every High School there always seems to be a table in the cafeteria for the cool people, for the jocks, the nerds, the Napoleon/Pedro table, etc. The question:

WHERE WOULD JESUS BE SITTING IN YOUR HIGH SCHOOL LUNCHROOM? Post your comments.

See You In Church!!

Sr. High Lock In

Last Friday night, October 27th, J2A had their annual Lock-In and it turned out to be a lot of fun! In years past, the kids have participated in a photo scavenger hunt where they were armed with cameras and a list of items to photoghraph. With the advances in technology these days, I decided to update the event to include video. So, we set off on our first video scavenger hunt with digital cameras and a list of crazy activities to film. I must say that these kids were very brave when it came to asking complete strangers to do things for them. One of the teams had a grocery store security following them around and the other team was asked to leave the front of a Taco Bell because they were blocking the doorway while playing duck, duck, goose.

Thank you to Nancy Tennyson and Dean Brian Baker for being such great sports and participating in the shenanegens.

We all met at Leatherby's after the hunt bragging to each other about all the amazingly silly things we did. While there we put away an unnatural amount of ice cream, fudge sauce, caramel whipped cream and french fries. I never knew Laura Dickson could put away so much ice cream; a mountain of ice cream no less. I watched 12 scoops dissapear in a flash. Very impressive Miss Dickson.

Afterwards it was off to the bowling alley for a game of laser tag. Fortunately no one lost their ice cream on the laser tag playing field. There was some dispute as to who was the high scoring laser warrior, but I think TJ had the most hits. If you would like to dispute this claim please file your complaint at the next meeting.

Back at the church everyone seemed a little beat. We watched the videos that we made, got nice and cozy in our sleeping bags and faded off into peacefull slumber at about 2:30 am. Did I say peacefull? We do have a few snoring puppies in our bunch.

Saturday morning I sent them on their way after a breakfast of eggs, bacon and french toast. I owe a big thanks to Mary Hustler for being chaperone, driver and all around helpful buddy. Everyone had a great time and we can't wait until next year's lock in.
